Cargo theft doesn’t start with a truck. It starts with a carrier who looked fine on paper.
Send us the carriers and brokers you’re using right now — up to 25 — and we’ll check every one against the federal record: operating authority and how long they’ve held it, the insurance filings on record with FMCSA, safety rating and out-of-service history, and the address and identity patterns that mark a chameleon carrier.
You get back a written Carrier Risk Report naming every carrier that fails, and why.
If your list comes back clean, you’ll know. If it doesn’t, you’ll know which loads to stop tendering today.

Why we check the federal record instead of your certificates
A certificate of insurance is a PDF. PDFs get forged, and a forged COI is the single most common way a fraudulent carrier gets a load released to them.
So we don’t check certificates. We check what can’t be faked — what the carrier has actually filed with the federal government, and what their record looks like underneath it.
What we check on every carrier
- Operating authority — active, revoked, or never granted, and whether it’s the right kind of authority for what you’re tendering them
- Age of authority — brand-new authority moving high-value freight is the strongest single fraud signal there is
- Insurance filings on record with FMCSA — which insurer, effective dates, and whether a cancellation notice is pending
- Safety rating and out-of-service status
- Inspection and crash history
- Address and phone reuse — the same address behind three different MC numbers is how a chameleon carrier hides
- Reinstatement history — authority revoked and quietly brought back
- Fleet size — what they report running versus what they told you they run
Why we can do this
Walter Kaszycki founded AB&M in 1997 and sits on the Airforwarders Association’s Truck Fraud and Theft Committee — the industry body that sets cargo theft prevention standards. David King, our Director of Client Partnerships, serves on the AfA Board of Directors and was cited in the association’s October 2025 call for a Federal Cargo Theft and Fraud Task Force.
We don’t just follow the vetting rules. We help write them.
What the report can’t tell you
One thing won’t be in it, and you should know why.
Cargo coverage — the insurance that actually protects the value of what’s on the truck — generally isn’t in any public federal filing. General freight carriers aren’t required to file it. The only way to verify it is a certificate confirmed directly with the carrier’s insurance agent.
Almost nobody does that. It’s slow, it has to happen before every new carrier touches a load, and most shipping departments don’t have the hours.
That verification is part of what we do on every load we broker. It’s the difference between hoping a carrier is covered and knowing it.

Takes two minutes. Paste the list or attach a spreadsheet — whatever format you already have it in.
We run four of these a week. If this week’s are spoken for, we’ll tell you when yours is scheduled rather than leave you wondering.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Carrier Risk Report check?
Operating authority status and age, insurance filings on record with FMCSA, safety rating, out-of-service and inspection history, address and identity reuse across MC numbers, and reinstatement history — for up to 25 carriers.
Is it really free?
Yes. No charge, no contract, and no sales call unless you ask for one.
Why only 25 carriers?
Each carrier is reviewed by a person, not a script. Twenty-five is what we can do properly inside 48 hours.
