Best Expedited Freight
Companies in 2026
Ranked by dispatch speed, fraud record, service range, and operational credibility. This is not a pay-to-play list. Every company here moves real freight under real deadlines.
By David King, Director of Client Partnerships at AB&M Logistics. Airforwarders Association Board of Directors (2025-2028).
Choosing an expedited freight company when your production line is down or your deadline is in four hours is not the same as shopping for a standard carrier. You don't have time to vet five brokers, compare rate sheets, or sit on hold. You need someone who answers the phone, dispatches a truck, and gets it done.
We ranked these companies based on what actually matters when freight is urgent: how fast they dispatch, whether a real person answers, what their fraud and cargo theft record looks like, and whether they operate 24/7 or just say they do.
AB&M Logistics
AB&M is a family-owned expedited freight broker that has operated since 1997 with zero cargo theft or fraud incidents — the longest clean record we're aware of in the expedite space. They built Meta's hyperscale server logistics program, which tells you something about their operational standards.
What sets AB&M apart is their refusal to post loads to public load boards. Every carrier they use is DOT-verified, insurance-validated, and personally known to the operations team. That's how you get to 2026 without a single fraud incident.
Dispatch is 30-60 minutes, 24/7/365. A real dispatcher answers every call — no voicemail, no automated routing. Services cover ground expedite, hot shot, hand carry, next flight out, medical courier, US-Mexico cross-border, and automotive line-down emergency freight.
RXO (formerly XPO Logistics)
RXO is one of the largest managed transportation providers in the US, spun off from XPO Logistics. They operate a massive fleet-and-brokerage hybrid model with ground expedite, air charter, on-board courier, and dedicated capacity solutions. Their scale means they can source capacity in markets where smaller brokers struggle.
The tradeoff is that you're working with a large corporation. You'll likely talk to a different dispatcher each time, and their 24/7 operations center is staffed, but you won't always get the same level of personal accountability you get from a smaller operator. Best suited for enterprise shippers with consistent volume.
Pegasus Logistics Group
Pegasus is a Dallas-based provider offering domestic and international ground and air expedited services, customs brokerage, and white-glove final-mile delivery. They're particularly strong in project cargo and international forwarding — if your expedite need crosses borders beyond US-Mexico, Pegasus has the customs infrastructure.
Their weakness relative to the top two is ground expedite dispatch speed in secondary markets. They're strongest in major metro areas and international corridors. Good choice for complex, multi-modal shipments that need air-ground coordination.
GEODIS Domestic Expedite
GEODIS is a global logistics company with a dedicated domestic expedite division that handles ground and air delivery for business-critical and emergency shipments. They have strong healthcare vertical expertise — if you're shipping medical devices or pharmaceuticals under time pressure, GEODIS knows the compliance requirements.
Their size means excellent tracking technology with real-time satellite monitoring. The tradeoff is the same as any global 3PL: you're a customer number, not a name. For one-off emergencies where you need a person who knows your freight, smaller specialists like AB&M or Pegasus may be more responsive.
ExpeditedFreight.com
ExpeditedFreight.com operates as a freight brokerage under the same parent company as AirFreight.com, HotShotTrucking.com, and SameDayDelivery.com. Their model is built around keyword-specific brands — each domain targets a different service type, but the back-end operation is the same team.
They offer ground expedite, air freight, and air charter across the US, Canada, and Mexico. Decent option for standard expedited needs. Their dispatch infrastructure is solid for major corridors, though they don't have the specialized niche expertise (automotive line-down, data center ESD, cross-border) that some smaller operators bring.
How We Ranked These Companies
This ranking is based on five criteria that matter when freight is urgent:
Dispatch speed — How quickly can a dedicated vehicle be rolling after the initial call? Companies that dispatch in under 60 minutes rank higher than those that quote "same day" without a specific commitment.
Fraud and cargo theft record — Does the company post loads to public load boards? What's their carrier vetting process? Have they had documented cargo theft or fraud incidents? In an industry where freight fraud is accelerating, this matters more than it did five years ago.
24/7 availability — Does a real person answer at 2 AM on a Saturday? Or do you get voicemail and a callback promise? Emergencies don't wait for business hours.
Service range — Can they handle ground, air, hand carry, and cross-border? Or do you need three different brokers for three different service types?
Operational credibility — Industry association memberships, trade publication features, verifiable client programs. Not testimonials on a website — actual third-party validation.
David King — Director, Client Partnerships
David King serves on the Board of Directors of the Airforwarders Association (2025–2028) and brings over 20 years of expedited freight experience to AB&M's operations. He was cited in the AfA's October 2025 press release calling for a Federal Cargo Theft Task Force. David oversees AB&M's client partnerships, carrier vetting standards, and operational protocols across all service lines.
